Marshia Soso

Fourth-year Manufacturing Engineering student at Ontario Tech, ready to apply what I have built and learned in a real engineering setting. I have programmed automated production lines, run statistical quality control analyses and completed a Project Management certificate. I am actively seeking a co-op or internship in engineering or project management where I can learn from experienced teams and contribute from day one.

Projects

Course work, Ontario Tech University

PLC-Driven Lava Lamp Production Line

METE 4200

  • Built a full automated assembly line simulation in Factory I/O, modelling the filling, sealing, inspection and packaging sub-systems.
  • Wrote the ladder logic and a technical tender proposal that included compliance matrices, cost estimation and milestone scheduling.
  • Added light curtains and emergency stops, then tuned the program control flow to meet a 30-second station cycle time target.

Workplace Ergonomics and OHS Risk Assessment

MANE 3460

  • Audited a manual handling workstation where operators repeatedly lift 5 to 15 kg manufacturing components.
  • Identified 8 workplace hazards and ranked them by FMEA Risk Priority Number. Awkward posture scored 392 and repetitive lifting scored 384.
  • Designed engineering and administrative controls: workstation height adjustments, mechanical lifting aids and structured job rotation.

Statistical Quality Control: Bottled Water Filling Line

Ontario Tech University

  • Monitored a 500 mL filling line with X-bar, R and p-control charts built from 20 sample subgroups.
  • Detected special-cause variation in sample 19, where the defect rate rose to 0.16 against an upper control limit of 0.142, and ran a root-cause analysis with a fishbone diagram.
  • Proposed preventive maintenance schedules and operator training to restore statistical control and reduce material scrap.

Experience

Nearly three years evaluating AI models

Jun 2025 – Apr 2026

AI Trainer and Data Evaluator (Part-Time)

Outlier

  • Evaluated and refined generative AI outputs for factual accuracy, logical consistency and adherence to detailed prompt constraints.
  • Ran quality control and safety benchmark checks on model responses to support Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) workflows.
  • Flagged edge-case errors, hallucination trends and reasoning flaws to help engineering teams fine-tune models.

2023 – Present

AI Data Contributor and Evaluator (Remote)

Prolific

  • Completed over 500 tasks and rated 5,000+ text-to-speech (TTS) samples for research and industry AI initiatives, including projects supporting Claude model development.
  • Assessed language model generations for tone, coherence, safety and alignment, drawing on cognitive psychology and human reasoning principles.

Summer 2023

Production Team Member (Summer Replacement)

General Motors, Oshawa Assembly Plant

  • Worked within lean manufacturing frameworks, quality assurance standards and high-volume assembly workflows.
  • Followed occupational health and safety (OHS) protocols while carrying out assembly operations in a fast-paced environment.

Sales Associate

Retail Operations

  • Managed daily inventory tracking, cash reconciliation and customer service, building communication and conflict-resolution skills.
